On Monday 16 December 2013, Ricardo Pisano was sentenced to 18-and-a-half years imprisonment at Lewes Crown Court after being found guilty of the manslaughter of Michael Polding, a man he had been in a relationship with.
Michael was found dead in his flat in Brighton on 16 July 2012. It is believed he died in May of that year after suffering multiple injuries.
Here, his sister Mary McKeown and her husband Sam speak publicly to encourage others who are in abusive relationships to talk to someone about it.
