Jazz contrabassist, singer, composer, Brandi Disterheft, has captivated audiences in Canada, Europe, Japan, China, Haiti and even the coveted Carnegie Hall! Brandi’s first recording ‘Debut’ won a JUNO Award in the Traditional Jazz Album category, next the critically acclaimed ‘Second Side’ was picked by The Globe and Mail as one of the 10 great albums of 2009! Brandi’s skills as a bassist and composer are clear at every turn on her breathtaking follow up ‘Gratitude’ which was also nominated for a JUNO Award. This promising talent from the north is currently touring her fourth (JUNO Award nominated) album ‘Blue Canvas’ featuring an all-star New York City line-up with jazz master Harold Mabern and the great Joe Farnsworth. In her eloquent liner notes, the multi-talented musician reminds us of the Muses of Ancient Greece philosophized by Plato, and how these Gods and Goddesses would lead the artist into a state of ecstasy. And such are the feelings that lead her to state that: “This album tells a story about that escape to freedom and the unyielding feeling of coming alive.”
